JJonas Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 (edited) iPad - iPad WiFi - iPad WiFi + 3G - Apple Store (UK) but there is the IPad 2 out at the end of the month Edited April 21, 2011 by ZeroHour
SimpleSi Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 That's still a nice price for a nice piece of kit though - it'll be a while before any android capactive tablet will beat it. Si
arthur231283 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 They are doing the same one refurbished for £289 Here
jamesb Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 That's still a nice price for a nice piece of kit though - it'll be a while before any android capactive tablet will beat it. Si Similar spec androids are generally about half that price - and you can even do what you want with them rather than what you're told to do.
SimpleSi Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Similar spec androids are generally about half that price - and you can even do what you want with them rather than what you're told to do. Please point me to a place selling cap touch 10in screens for about half that price Si
damien.deakes Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Similar spec androids are generally about half that price - and you can even do what you want with them rather than what you're told to do. Unless it requires a proxy? And then you cant or have to user root access.
SimpleSi Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Unless it requires a proxy? Look - its a fair cop - we've got our hands in the air We know they can't spell proxy and yes its very embarrasing - bit like not being able to use Flash but more dishonourable for a geek device Si
damien.deakes Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 What flash based sites do you use? Just askin...
LosOjos Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 What flash based sites do you use? Just askin... Pretty much any of them with videos?
damien.deakes Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 You mean the flash adverts that are so annoying? My iPad never stopped me watching youtube or vimeo videos. Plus Youtube have just switched on HTML 5 embeds so that all works now.
tech_guy Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 The only website I have a problem with on my iPad is the BBC News site, but then again thanks to the inane quality of the BBC news reporting nowadays it's no great loss.

damien.deakes Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Yeah you should be watching a better news channel than that... it's all worry worry worry at the BBC. They seem to like jumping on any bandwagon going. No I mean the videos I go to various sites to watch: 99% of the time they're embedded with flash Surely most of these are Vimeo or Youtube embeds? On blogs and such?
FN-GM Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Why has this turned into an iPad bashing post? maybe we should be back on topic... 1
SimpleSi Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 (edited) Why has this turned into an iPad bashing post Because all online discussions re apple kit vs anything else always do Si Edited March 3, 2011 by SimpleSi
LosOjos Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Unless it requires a proxy? And then you cant or have to user root access. That's why ^^^ you started it lol Why has this turned into an iPad bashing post? maybe we should be back on topic...
SimpleSi Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 ... and you can even do what you want with them rather than what you're told to do. No - we (well James) did Si
jamesb Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 No - we (well James) did Si I deny it. I wasn't there. Wasn't me. Never touched 'em gov'na. A big boy did it and ran away. Please point me to a place selling cap touch 10in screens for about half that price Si Amazon.co.uk: tablet capacitive Not quite half, but close, and a decent search could probably turn up a few more. What flash based sites do you use? Just askin... I don't - I do however use quite a few Silverlight based sites and apps for work, and my own enjoyment. You've also lost newgrounds, and much other entertainment. Of course if you're one of those serious users who believe that the web should only be for purely practical purposes, and that a UI doesn't need any frills, then flash isn't of much use.
SimpleSi Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Not quite half, but close, I don't see anything that's "close" to half-price that comes "close" to the spec of an Ipad (And if by decent you mean exhaustive and time consuming, I still think you wouldn't get "close" ) Si
AyatollahPies Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 That's still a nice price for a nice piece of kit though - it'll be a while before any android capactive tablet will beat it. Si Call me a leper but I prefer Resistive screens.
