sparkeh Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 If there's one thing I get confused about its projectors so I wonder if someone could give me some guidance. We are currently looking at replacing our old projectors which are mostly 5+ years old. They are all 2.5-3m ceiling mounted away from a 77" IWB. I have told by a couple of companies that we cannot get replacement projectors with the right throw length/diagonal image size for this set up. So I have a couple of questions. *Is this really the case or does anyone know of a projector that could do this? *Is there a standard for these things so that if we end up having to move our installations we could put in within a range where this isn't going to happen again? Marc-Engineer Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Hi so what is the distance or are you saying all slightly different if you want 2.1 to 2.6 just in rang for some of yours you can use epson X9 most current projectors are shorter focal length beacuse or reduced shadow but if they are caged check if the lens is same side as some cages take projectors with lens one side only also you may need a different mount if not in a cage, i would be please to ring you and assist if you want , and i am not trying to sell you anything just free advice. sonofsanta Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 As said, the new Casio LEDs have an unusually generous range on them, if you can get hold of one to try it out. One more reason why they're brilliant as replacement projectors. If only they'd used M4 mounting holes instead of M3...
Jamman960 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 I've just had the same problem with a projector 3.5m away from the screen, Joe@CPLTD recommended the Epson EB-84L and it fits perfectly. Looking at the screen size calc on projector point it would easily suit your requirements. 1

I am looking at the Sanyo PLC-XD2200 for these which appear to do the job. We have a few that are 2.3m away from the board which looking at the Epson X9 you recommended will fit nicely.
Marc-Engineer Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Yes but before you buy check warrenty is it on site and lamp price, always worth checking. Epson should be 3 or 5 year and £125 lamp price. Epson also have a 5000 Hr lamp life. Marc Projector Engineer

The Sanyo's tend to have the lens on the oppostie side to most projectors! make sure the lens orientation is correct!
