Pyroman Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 So it's the last friday of term, i have a little free time got all my big jobs done, so i thought i'd try installing freenas on one of the old machines dumped under my desk. Plugged the power cord into it, *BANG*! Big flash and now no power to the admin and curriculum servers, photocopier or the office next door. oops! Now gotta wait for the servers to chkdsk
jedmondson Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Ouch. thats bad luck. Today at work i swapped round 2 pcs becouse the labels had fallen off. I also hadent plugged in the switch correctley. I blamed lack of coffee.
alan-d Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 :tape2:Today I came into work! That's always a bad sign that something nasty is going to happen!
andy_nic Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 i've been there, today i lost my keys for 30 mins found them left them in the maths office
difinity Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 We got out servers put on a different circuit to our office after a faulty power socket tripped everything off.
Pyroman Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 Well the core switch stayed on but everything else died! ...and to top it all off just been sat in A&E for the best part of an hour and a half with a student, the joys of being a First Aider!
localzuk Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Definitely worth having a dedicated feed for your servers - we have 2 dedicated feeds for ours.
GeeHubb Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 ...and to top it all off just been sat in A&E for the best part of an hour and a half with a student, the joys of being a First Aider! ....which is exactly why I'm not renewing my first aid certificate next month. I'm fed up of sitting in the office and hearing from the medical room, when the first aider is out "... well I can't put a plaster on it because I don't have a first aid certificate... Geehubb does....." After all they don't pay me any extra because I've got a first aid cert!
