so last night the missus moaned i didnt tell her about work. i started to go in to a lil detail of what i had been doing and i got to the so guess how i fixed it line to be greeted with "zzzzzzzzzz"

My OH never wants to hear about work either, but then again I don't find the finer points of Accountancy particularly exciting either!

It's the same in our house as well, but in fairness my other half is a Teacher so it's not often I want to hear about the lessons she's been teaching :-) although having said that she does come in handy when pitching ideas for our school :-)

Today? It'd half 8 in the morning, my only acievement so far is getting out of bed and making a cup of tea!

Jem's an Ex Edutech, now a webdev, and harmony is achieved by not mentioning work..plus I don't want to teach DD bad language..such memorable lines as "aargh! What a day. "x" has been a total cockerel today. Don't ask me about "y" either - bunch of self pleasurers" etc..

 

I normally vent it on the car..nothing shifts stubborn bolts like a breaker bar with some annoyance behind it..heh.

Me and the missus quite often talk about work. Some Friday nights we turn the tele on, crack open the wine, and get talking about what has happened that week at work. Then we find it's midnight and can't remember anything from what has been playing in the background on the tele.

 

Good stuff, wouldn't have it any other way. My missus is my best friend so if I can't vent to her, who can I vent to?!

mrwITch and I talk about work all the time - as a geek himself he is very helpful and I try to be equally as helpful to him - sometimes I don't understand what he is going on about (what IS a software technical architect anyway!) - but I do my best.

I'd love to have someone to talk to about work - unfortunately no one I talk with on a regular basis (face-to-face) can follow what I'm doing for more than a few minutes at most. It doesn't help that that includes the people I work with, so I have to talk in a simplified overview style and can't just chat about the technical aspects with anyone.

I've actually managed to find a .NET user group nearby, and will be going to that next week so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

My wife is a teacher, works at the school I used to work at, with a lot of people I know (even some of the new folk who have joined since I left ... including the Principal) ... and she is now very geeky too.

 

She gets all geeky about computers and problems and I rant about the lack of educational change through technology in some schools. And then we watch Glee!
