kath Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Spiceworks seemed to install OK, but gets no further than 'Starting up'. I have left it for a matter of hours. Pc is running Vista SP2 and I am logged on as network manager. 4GB RAM, AMD Athlon dual core proc 2.6 GHz. I can no find no errors in the event logs. Everything, in fact, seems fine, it just doesn't work! Any help/suggestions would be very much appreciated.
strawberry Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Have you rebooted? its quite an intensive program, the startup sometimes goes wonky. What does task manager say?
kath Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 I have rebooted - I have been trying to sort this for several days! Task manager says: Spiceworks - Starting Up - Windows Internet Explorer Running.
free870 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Sound like you have some malware. Vista SP2.
kath Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 I've checked with malwarebytes and virus checked. Thanks for trying.
Gaz Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I've checked with malwarebytes and virus checked. Thanks for trying. kath I think that was free870's attempt at humour, saying that the problem is Vista SP2.
Out_of_Sync Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I had a similar problem, I just changed browser to Firefox and it started without any problems.
Squiffy101 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 We had a similar thing but got it working on IE eventually though it was dog slow :-( Took SW suggestion and moved over to Chrome and now it flies!
sven Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I use Firefox or Chrome when using Spiceworks. IE just doesn't seem to like it.
