pete Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Since Google appear unlikely to bring Voice to .uk/.eu anytime soon, I'm in the market for a VOIP provider with one number/call hunt functionality. A couple of threads on here have mentioned Sipgate and I already know about Vonage. Is there anyone else worth considering and what have experiences with using Sipgate/Vonage/other provider been like?
ICT_Pro Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Hi I am trying to find some other cheaper service as well but I think no other provider is available in UK at the moment. Might be somebody know?
CISCODISCO Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) I use sipgate TBH I don't use it much I set an account up with number and that's about it. > Skype > Some ISP's do home VOIP (I think BT have a package) Edited February 20, 2011 by CISCODISCO
MatthewL Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 I have used Vonage and currently I am using my ISP's (PlusNet) VOIP feature. Skype's looks good too, not sure about any others.
AngryTechnician Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Vonage have very good service when it works, but the hardware they supply has had a fatal firmware flaw for over a year that can cause severe performance issues unless you reboot the VOIP gateway every few days. There appears to be no effort being made to fix it as it only affects a small proportion of customers, but unless you use different hardware I just can't recommend it. Real shame because otherwise their offering is very good.
m25man Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Soho66.co.uk are very good, specifically for the smaller business and home user. The UK support is great as well. Highly recommended, check out the Fax to email service as well.
button_ripple Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 > Some ISP's do home VOIP (I think BT have a package) BT are discontinuing their VOIP when they release the next Home Hub later this year.
