alan-d Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 OK so if you found a missile you would hand it in, but would you take it for a drive across the Midlands first? BBC News - Surface-to-air missile taken to Wednesbury police
laserblazer Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 When I did my RAF apprenticeship, it was customary to pull a Pass-Out stunt. We had some visiting military apprentices from France, who brought us dummy missile. The Passing Out Entry took said missile to London, climbed over the wall into Buckingham Palace and buried the thing nose down in the gardens. This was 1966, I'm not sure it would be as easy now. Rumour has it that the Met Police told the MOD that we could collect it from the local police station but I don't think anyone bothered. I'm not going to tell you what our entry did because it is probably still on Avon and Somerset's unsolved crimes list. I had an Isetta Bubblecar and when it got to Passing-Out time, I used to have to park it in the Guardroom compound otherwise it ended up in all sorts of unlike places. Happy days. 1
superfletch Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I love where it says: "The man had collected a few items from the house clearance in Leicester and only realised afterwards he might have a missile"

Andrew_C Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I heard (reliable source) that a crate coming through customs in a van was stopped when C&E thought that the driver was taking the P when he said that there was a penguin in it. Apparently the look on his face was priceless when it was opened.
