Hi there,

we've got a problem with some disks in our array and want to replace them. However, my main supplier can't supply us with a like for like disk and has asked if our server can take 15k scsi drives instead of the 10k ones that are currently in it.

The drives are connected to a LSI 1020/30 Ultra 320.

Does anyone know if 15k drives will be ok or not?

Cheers

Should work fine, obviously you'll want all drives in an array to be the same speed to benefit from the better performance though. Edited by 3s-gtech

I've just been on the blower to him and he's sending me x5 so that I've enough to replace all the disks in the array, the HotSwap and have another spare on the shelf.

Thanks

I just bought 5 146GB scsi discs for one of my old servers, taking it to 700GB or so. Problem is, the backplane is only 160 rather than the 320 of the discs. Be nice to have some space though! Not badly priced either.

That's a brilliant service.

Sure is. I wanted them delivering to my home address so that I know I've got them ready for first thing Monday morning. I didn't expect them this early though, but I'm not complaining as at least I can get on with things now without waiting in! :)
