farquea Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Ive never really looked into VNC, ultra VNC and Real VNC extra and wondered is there a free version, ultra VNC?? I have a microsoft remote assistance method in place but it requires the user to "accept" me taking control, so i'd like to have a better solution in place but only if it is free or close to? Can anyone help me out and if it costs give me a rough price guide?
soveryapt Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 UltraVNC is certainly free, if you want another option there is also iTalc, which runs on a similar back end to VNC but offers you to be able to view many desktops at once and all that jazz ..

Each has it’s advantages and disadvantages. Most popular one is RealVNC but if you’re upto it, experiment with all three and choose the one that works for you best. By default, communication between client and server is in clear text on port 5900. However, you can easily route all traffic via SSH tunnel.
