the_one_that_cant Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I got a 04 reg Nissan Almera petrol (great car) but I am unsure what engine oil it takes. Can any one point me in the right direction? I am no good when it comes to cars and engines, and I cant find th oil specs anywhere :-(

the_one_that_cant Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 To be honest, it needs a service, but I don't have the time or money to do it yet, so was hoping that replacing the oil would get rid of the smell, haha. I know I need to get it seen to.
Guest Guest Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Why not just take it to a tyre and oil centre? They will usually change your oil and filter for £20-25. For that kind of money its not even worth thinking about doing it yourself.
the_one_that_cant Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 Yeah, theres a very slight smell that seems to come through the central heating vents (more likely the engine bay) but it goes within a minute or two. I have not had the money this past month to do anything about it, as long as it ran, it was ok (in my eyes) but seeing as though it is payday, I should consider booking it in somewhere.
Chris_in_notts Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 you probs have a slight oil leak and the smell is the oil burning off, an oil change is unlikely to cure this but I would keep an eye on your levels
Chris_in_notts Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 When you start your car open the bonnet and as it warms up look out for black smoke, if you see any then you should be able to see where the leak is in that area, ofcourse I may be totally wrong and you have a dead rat under the bonnet cooking on the manifold! 1
