Rawns Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I read that Coffee is basically Bowel lubricant.... ...or was it from a Dilbert strip?
john Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 6 proplus for a quick boost got you going a bit when I was younger Your not that old now my friend I have 3 or 4 when I am in a Coffee mood, I do however think I need even better coffee in my office, Nescafe is great (beats the grey sludge you make out of the instant in the staff room) but I do miss fresh brewed coffee.....
tech_guy Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Between 1990-1995 I had a very stressful job working in investments and I used to get through between 10 and 20 cups of coffee a day. Didn't really enjoy the palpitations that went with it ;-)
somabc Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 lol .. that's what happens when you do have too much coffee though .. but how much is too much? lol .. When you look like that!
somabc Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Whatever you do, NEVER get tempted by pure caffeine powder! I bought some thinking it'd save me some money; 30g for £5 rather than £1.50 a can (roughly 150mg) and used it for about a week, adding a spoon to my cuppa in the morning. It worked fantastically for the first week, I was wide awake and sharp as a knife! But then disaster struck, I OD'd, could barely walk, threw up for 48 hours constant and probably would have gone to hospital if I had the energy! Stick to coffee, the pure stuff is evil! People have killed themselves with pure caffeine powder, one person thought it was like cocaine and several grams later they were dead. Party-goer killed by 2 spoonfuls of caffeine powder - equivalent to 70 Red Bulls | Mail Online
difinity Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 It takes a lot of drinks to kill you. Whatever you drink. Death by Caffeine 2

Nescafe? Really? If you're going to go for instant, at least go for something half decent like Carte Noire. lol .. I bought myself a small (ish) caffitierre for work so it's freshly brewed all the way .. the staff are all like "oooo .. look at you with the posh coffee whilst we're all left with this" *points to random mug of hot drink* .. to which I reply "I'll make you a proper coffee if you want me to?" cos I'm not precious over the stuff, but generally get the response "I don't like coffee" or "I don't drink coffee", basically something that makes their previous statement about having posh coffee and being jealous of it completely and utterly void .. lol ..

browolf Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 when i switched to decaf the mornings felt strange for ages without the usual hit of caffeine. I won't drink any old decaf tho either Douwe Egberts or alta rica. also drink it black with no sugar. Mostly I drink ali shan oolong or jasmine pearls green tea from Canton Tea Co - The China Tea Specialist
LosOjos Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Very nearly had a breakdown this morning - the local shop have run out of Guava Juice Rockstar! I've had to settle for Rockstar Juiced instead *grumble*

Butuz Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I got rid of the kettle from my office as i just drank and drank and drank tea and coffee. Not good for you!! I now have to walk all the way to the main office and thus only fit in about 3 - 5 cups a day mixed between tea and coffee. Much better!! Butuz
CAM Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Don't forget the energy drinks have different brews for different markets. Red Bull is especially strong on the continent but weaker here due to legal restrictions. Likewise, Mountain Dew is banned in the UK so they rebrewed a weaker version called Mountain Dew Energy for UK sale. I've tried both and there is a huge difference.

That explains it then, I remember drinking Mountain Dew a lot as a kid (before it became an energy drink presumably!) and wondered where it had all gone to!
