Well, we may as well get started somewhere so why not here:

 

1. Disable bluetooth if you are never going to use it. It'll save a lot of battery life.
    
   
2. Reduce the screen brightness to 25%. It's still very usable and will, again, save battery power.
    
   
3. Disable the screen rotation effect in the Millenium app. The graphic processor is so poor it can't handle it, and just blanks. If you disable it then screen rotation occurs quicker.
    
   
4. Disable screen rotation (this is personal preferance). As the sensor is so sensative it just makes sense to do this, otherwise if you rotate it too many times too quickly Windows just refuses to play nice whilst it catches up.

reduce start up apps. They add extra login time, and use up the battery being open in the background, stick to essentials!

the classic tightest power saving timeout setups that you can cope with ...

reduce the background apps to bare minimum ...

disable any unnecessary hardware / ports / controllers /etc you don't use in BIOS, this may or may not help ... but I like to think it does :-)

See if you can get some kind of app that will turn off the screen if it's face down and the such like ...

You have obviously never seen the Slate 100 BIOS. It basically says 'you have a slate computer, live with it' and that's about it.

On my Slate I followed the Windows 7 Guide here disabling unwanted visual themes really helped.

 

I also disabled some services following a guide here as well as clearing out the number of applications that run at startup.

 

I've definitely seen an improvement in performance and responsiveness from the unit just wish I could extend the battery life as much!

If you don't need it, you can remove the BCM970015 card and save between 100mW-300mW of power.

If you upgrade it to Windows 7 Pro (http://www.edugeek.net/forums/hardware/68843-rm-slate-100-a.html#post617727) and join it to the domain, have a USB keyboard to hand, as you'll need to press ctrl-alt-del to logon. Once logged on, disable the need for ctrl-alt-del.

 

One that DB showed me, but hasn't mentioned, increase the DPI to make the icons bigger and easier to touch.

Little green icon in the tray, bottom right. Also lets you turn off bluetooth.

Look for a program titled "Millenium somethingorother" and its in there.
