Hi,

Ideally I'd like a low profile card suitable for music tech. Does the card just need to support ASIO2, or are there other specs to take into consideration?

I was considering a USB-MIDI connector to hook up the keyboards to the computer's USB connection, then something like Sound Blaster Xtreme Gamer which is low profile and supports ASIO2. Although considering the sarcastic response I got from the Cubase forum, this isn't going to be approrpiate.

Failing that, can someone recommend either a regular PCI card or USB?

We have had high latency problems with Audiophile cards in the past (about 4-5 years ago), so were advised to switch to basic 5.1 sound blaster cards, which worked fine with Cubasis VST3. However, I'm now replacing computers and upgrading to either Cubase SE3 or Cubase Studio 4 and need new sound cards.

Any help much appreciated. :)

We use the EMU-404 not sure if it's available as a low profile but this is in a shuttle system for cubase and sibelius etc...

I'm using standard music keyboards that have midi usb interfaces which work well so far.

Allthough the EMU has all the input outputs you'd want including normal midi.

M-Audio is my recommendation, I have some friends who are prominent DJ's in certain dance music scenes who will swear by them too. Most use the M-Audio Delta series of cards, they're most reliable and can work in both a PC and a Mac.

We use Soundblaster Live Audigy cards with the front bays that they make. Although, I suspect we will be get X-Fi's next time round when we need them, as the driver issues seem to have stabilised now.

Digging up an old thread here but rather than make a duplicate I was wondering if anyone had anymore recommendations for a sound card for music with a breakout box? It doesnt have to be low profile:)

TIA
