glennda Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Hiya, Just wondering what you guys are replacing the Sanyo's Xe40's with? We replaced a load with the Sanyo PLC-WXL46A. But these have now been discontinued now we want to replace some more! Thanks!
glennda Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 Casio XJ-A130 Ben are these on the short throw poles that come from the wall? (i think i have asked you this before!) it looks like this/or similar http://www.jigsaweducation.com/media/186683/activboard_crop_302x243.jpg
mounters Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 If you want to stick with Sanyos then have you looked at the PLC-WL2500? 1
plexer Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Sorry ignore me didn't realise it was a short throw. Ben
Jamman960 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 We've just this week replaced one with a PLC-WL2500 or atleast are in the process of doing so - the mount holes are entirely different so we've had to purchase an additional mount to bolt to the mount plate(1st Generation Promethean Activ+2). Looks like it'll work out perfectly. The projector will be lower than before and is much bigger than the XE-40 but its not low enough to affect visability or h&s James 1

JJonas Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 (edited) Casio XJ-A130 Ben Do Casio do a short throw version of this? really like the idea of not changing bulbs but LEA advises to use short throw projectors Edited January 12, 2011 by JJonas
Jamman960 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Casio don't currently do a short throw version. I'm trying to get away from short throw setups although the ultra-short throw's aren't all that bad when fitted correctly(the ones that bolt to the wall directly) however the ones on booms never seem to be quite right, the image is always slightly off because the weight of the projector pulls the mount downwards. If I never saw another Promethean Activ+2 again I'd be very happy. Don't suppose you can just ignore the LEA?(thankfully we're an independent)
Marc-Engineer Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 There are several projectors that will fit NEC and Epson Included but justa point if the weight of the projector is pulling the mount down it is not installed correctly !!! Marc Projector Engineer
glennda Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011 Do Casio do a short throw version of this? really like the idea of not changing bulbs but LEA advises to use short throw projectors they had the prototype on show at bett - its not quite ultra short throw yet but still would do IWB from 1m or so the bloke said they where hoping to get out for the summer but they havn't got a firm date/price for it yet.
scooby Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Promethean do have a replacement with plate that fits on their old V1 AB+2 board, short supply though so be quick!
glennda Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 I ordered and fitted a Sanyo PLC-WL2500 I got it with a a plate mount for it - I then mounted the projector through both plates - seems to have worked really well and was actually cheaper then the projectors we replaced with before Toby
jon_nais Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Hi, We have around 30 fish eye Xe40's that are slowly failing. Is the PLC-WL2500 a suitable replacement? is this much different from the new Promethean PRM-30's, or just a rebadge??? Thanks
glennda Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 Yes it fitted with Minor Adjustment and a New plate - although we purchased the projector and mount for about £650 then just took the plate off the new mount and fitted it to the old mount. It looks just like a rebadge from the pictures but you can never be 1000% sure.
jon_nais Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Hi, Thanks for the quick reply. All of ours are connected to ActivBoard 1's, where were you able to get the new plate/mount from?? J
jasonb007 Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Can you let us know what plate to use/where to get them? We have some failed XE40's and looking for an alternative projector - like the PLC-WL2500
glennda Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 I just ordered a mount with one and then took the plate from that.
philwaterhouse Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 If you go for the Sanyo DWL2500 this is a widescreen version that will also do 4:3 ratio to match your current interactive board. The widescreen capability will give yu a little future proofing also. The other great thing about the Sanyo is that it is 3D ready so if you do go down that route again you have the projector to cope with 3D. Hope this helps.
glennda Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Are there any other projectors out there that people suggest? I had the WL2500 last time but i don't like it much. What do people suggest?
scooby Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 RA mounts make an adapter for the Promethean v1 which will take the Casio led short throw, combined price about £1250 thought!!! You can get refurbished xe40's (cleaned optics etc) for about £275
glennda Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Which casio Unit? the XJ-ST145? Do you have a link to the mount? I don't want any more Xe40's they are useless
scooby Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Yes the XJ-ST145 is perfect, expensive but should last years without ever buying a lamp. The mount is ra product code RA-XJ-ST/XJH/PM/V2 for the v1 (scaffold ole type) Are you xe40's dead or has the thermal switch Just tripped? Takes 15 mins to fix a trip!
