Fact #6: Skepticisms is the longest word in the English language that alternates hands when typing.

[PEDANTRY]

And that is the American spelling as well so it should be scepticisms.......so the s and the c are quite handy?

Little known fact #332:

This shockwave don't need no shrapnel to kill you!

I missed 2 days of these...so...

Fact #12: There are more than 1,000 chemicals in a cup of coffee. Of these, only 26 have been tested, and half caused cancer in rats.

Fact #13: Pound for Pound, McDonalds and Burger King hamburgers cost more than new cars!

Fact #13: Pound for Pound, McDonalds and Burger King hamburgers cost more than new cars!

Surely depends on the car...?

By my shoddy maths, an aston martin DBS costs £42.78 per pound - whereas a big mac costs about £16

...and stop with the daily mail cancer facts! anything in constant enough doses cause cancer... The Daily Mail Oncological Ontology Project

I didn't get the cancer one from the dailymail...I got it from New Scientist :p

And I mean't your average car (EG Cherolet Lancetti, Ford Mondeo, Vauxhall Astra)

Don't get me started on that rag!

When did they stop having science in it....?

What animals can eat and what humans can eat differs greatly... need I say more than chocolate is poisonous to dogs ....it's never even made me feel queasy.

I have missed 2 facts of the day again! grrr...

Fact #14: There are 10 human body parts that are only 3 letters long (eye hip arm leg ear toe jaw rib lip gum).

Fact #15: The largest number of children born to one woman is recorded at 69. From 1725-1765, a Russian peasant woman gave birth to 16 sets of twins, 7 sets of triplets, and 4 sets of quadruplets.

Fact #17: It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in- law with All the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the honey month we know today as the honeymoon.

We should campaign for this to start again. Only because I'm renewing my vows in Italy next year! :)

The principle is that all waves have a frequency, and energy.

If you were far too brainy/nerdy, and you could calculate the energy required to break a molecular bond, and the frequency at which that energy is matched, you could cause the molecular bonds to break.

Within the human body, the principle is that the body operates by signals sent down the nerves from the brain, and these signals have a frequency attached to them that the brain operates on. In theory, if you directed the right frequency at the right place, you could interupt the signals from the brain.

The chances of finding the exact frequency that works on the exact part of the body that you want to control is really damned small.

Shockwave effect or exceedingly high db sounds is a lot more likely to have the desired effect, since inner ear's are rather sensitive.

Unfortunately, i fit that category. The link of energy to frequency for Electro Magnetic waves is E = hf, where h is planck's constant. This process is used to accelerate electrons off atoms.

I have heard/seen/read recently about some experiments where brain function was manipulated by some kind of energy wave. Perhaps it was linked to people with disabilities.

Sound waves work a bit differently though.

Fact 18: If the population of China stood shoulder to shoulder around the Equator, two thirds would drown.

HAH! nephilim didn't say, so it doesn't count! Can't fool us :p

This is a quote from one of our Principles of Sound papers we were told to revise on the Audio Engineering course I am doing.

Frequencies above 20kHz are referred to as ultrasonics. Examples of ultrasonics

include signals generated by car alarm remotes and dog whistles.

Frequencies below 20Hz are called subsonics. These can have a wide range of

unusual effects on people. They can cause epileptic fits, kill people and, in theory at

least, create orgasms. A common effect of being subjected to subsonics is to suffer

temporary loss of balance.

after watching mythbusters i would disagree with number 10

mythbusters diamonds - Google Search

they found that you can make diamonds, not the shiny glimmering diamonds you'd put on rings but the kind of diamonds you put in drill bits etc... "industrial diamonds". (although that was after a massive explosion)

Another interesting fact, Michael Jackson's sound engineers used to play subsonic frequencies before a gig that caused the audience to be anxious. The subsonic frequencies cant be heard but when MJ would walk onto stage they would cut the subsonics and it would give the audience a huge feeling of relief and make them enjoy the show more. He used this technique at the majority of his shows.
