Free licences ;)

this or we tend to either purchase products with a site license. or software like Sibelius which is installed everywhere but only 50 copies can be run at once etc.

App-v lets you specify licenses for products , and only allows the number you are licensed for to be run concurrently (in theory anyway!)

and it gets round traditional license agreements that don't allow concurrent usage and count installations, because App-V applications are not installed. allow some software different license agreements. its all in the wording

Site licenses or concurrent use is the easiest to manage. For things with a limited amount of licenses, we keep a list of how many licences we have and where they are installed in a wiki with the rest of the IT docs.

Anything with a limited amount of licenses also doesn't go on default images.
