There is no impact whatsoever on MasterCard or Maestro cardholders' ability to use their cards for secure transactions

Except today on ParentPay:

We are advised that there is currently an intermittent fault in Mastercard's card authentication infrastructure. Payments with Mastercard branded cards are therefore likely to fail. Please use alternative cards or try again later.

I'm jumping to my own conclusions!

Just been in to town and one of the shops was having problems with Mastercard payments. Don't know if it's related. Girl on the checkout said it was local.

Seems a bit of a coincidence!

I love how the US are expecting Wikileaks to be taken down and for these cables to disappear. I don't think they understand that once something is on the internet, that's it.

An encrpyted copy of all the leaked cables has been distributed over p2p - if they were to take down Wikileaks (and every mirror) the decryption key would just be announced and the information would be in the hands of everyone. This is significant stuff and a debate that I'm really interested in both sides of

I was at a ParentPay meeting (well Training) with their MD and techie there. They told us it was down due to a problem at the Authorisation Centre. They knew about it but was unable to give a timescale.

Is it just me, or is anyone else looking forward see how this pans out?

I'm looking forward to the book / film. ;)

It's pretty obvious the likes of Pay Pal have been pressured by the US although they are denying it - just shows how pathetic they and other governments are. The elastic band on the brick can only stretch so far.

Don't think it's ever a good idea to have the 4chan community against you. This is a very interesting time to be alive - the internet takes down capitalism? There's obviously a limit to what information should be shared but I don't think the US government should decide on their own!
