Is there anyone else running this software. It was originally installled by an old technician who has since left. I have had a quick look and the only way i can see of installing it is to go to each worksation and run the workstation install from the folder on the server.

Have any of you installed this any other way..........msi package maybe?

Nope. I think you're stuck with going to every workstation. We run it on some standalone machines so I'm not 100% up to speed, but the install seems to require you to be there.

And quite frankly, it sucks.

Build your own MSI with a snapshot application or use an AutoIt script tied in with a login script to install it. I will assume it is MSI friendly though as RM resell it dont they?

I've just done an install of success maker today, from the server, onto a new machine. I'll image the machine when it's done and roll it out across the rest later this week. Although I haven't done it before, that's how all the older machines were done (rip prep) and it works fine on those.

If you need to know the basic steps to install success maker, let me know and I'll get some instructions to you.

cheers,

Image it out here too - would be a nightmare otherwise as we have it available on 150 machines. Of course we only have 6 licences - aren't they about £900 each? No one uses the reporting function now so seems a big waste of money.

to be honest, I've only been in this job 3 weeks, so when asked to install software I try to do the best I can. finding out what it actually does is for the future.

I made an MSI using InstallShield Repackager. No particular problems, except that the SuccessMaker client registers the .WSF file type to one of RM's own applications (can't remember which one). This stopped my logon script from running!

Thanks guys for the advice,

I think will try and repackage it first to see how i get on.

I had thought of the image option but i have only just done images for the school for the start of the school year and don't really want to start making new images already. Guess i will have to if i can't repackage it.

i installed it manually on workstations from a server share but things arent so smooth. apparently it wont run on more than 1 workstation at a time. they all work one at a time but not together. cant get help cos dont have a support contract. using enterprise 1.3

rm support site is a bit useless cos it wont let me see past help document titles.

help please?

@browolf: Sounds like they all have the same station ID. Change them so that they are all different - the numbers can be random.

I just keep an image and send it out as and when but the Station ID needs to be changed. - C:\windows\environ.ccc - open in notepad and make it unique, luckily I only have 5 stations.

no wait.... on ours theres 48 .ccc files. 24 are environ.ccc and are in various subfolders off c:\localcai\bin\env\condvd and c:\localcai\bin\env\conloc

the others are mienv.ccc in the same places
