Hiya,

We seem to be having a high rate of profile corruptions where i am currently working.

I have been looking into it for the past 4/6 weeks and cannot seem to work out why this is happening. For the students although they says is corruption its normally folder redirection has failed which then causes the my documents shortcut to give you an error for ever more. ( I am trying to push mandatory profiles for them)

But with staff there seems to be no pattern (only that the servers don't like early mornings!) We have had all our classroom to patch panel cables tested and the fiber which was in appalling state (some just 2 cores out of 12 working!) replaced back to our main server room. The only thing that has not changed (which i am going to do at christmas) is replace the network leads from the server to the switching.

As far as i can see none of the servers network cards get above 20% usage. The only thing i cannot monitor is the core switches as the previous NM password protected them and didn't tell anybody.

Is there anything else i should be checking/looking into as apparently this has allways happening but more recently in high numbers.

Cheers

Just use mandatory profiles for students, it takes about 30mins to setup and means they log in quicker and you wont ever get a corruption again.

yes i know that - i want to but not allowed. but this should not be happening it should work. most of the problems are with staff, the students dont tend to happen as much

Is it the ones who store large amounts of data on their desktops that get affected the most?
