synaesthesia Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I love making things difficult for my employers! Fell over on Friday (no drink involved) and duly broke my right wrist Out of action now for 4-6 weeks. Don't know what I'm going to do with myself, I HATE not working Already emailed all my schools to let them know I'd be happy to help over phone/remote but I doubt that will tide me over long :/ Ah well, time to queue up the videos
elsiegee40 Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Poor you! Daytime TV is mind-numbing; only bearable if you have heavy 'flu and can doze through it. I guess the problem is getting to work rather than actually doing any work
synaesthesia Posted November 22, 2010 Author Posted November 22, 2010 Thats exactly it Avoiding most daytime TV fortunately with a bit of walking and lots of Red Dwarf/Mock the Week/QI/Blackadder
rad Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Ouch, I can't stand being off work. Could you not go in and do "some" work?
GrumbleDook Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Sorry to hear that mate ... take it easy and get better soon.
ChrisH Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Might be a good time to study for a certificate in something.
FN-GM Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I managed to break my arm & elbow years ago. It was a real pain & not being able to do allot of things. To this day i cant touch my right shoulder with my right hand.
witch Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Sorry to hear that - is it that you aren't allowed to drive? TBH most people I know who break a wrist tend to drive anyway after about 2 weeks! If you are stuck at home you could study or even get very fit (other than weight-lifting, of course)
p858snake Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Did someone say tv boxset marathon? Complete series of stargate sg1 is quiet good.....
synaesthesia Posted November 23, 2010 Author Posted November 23, 2010 I probably could drive, but won't be insured to do so, so it's not worth the risk. Might change my mind by 2 weeks time though Would love to study something but can't afford the exams at the end of it
Andrew_C Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Trouble with going in to work is with insurance again. If you're signed off, you really shouldn't go in. May be possible for your employer to get this sorted, but check first!
witch Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Doctors, at least around here, only tend to sign off for a max of 2 weeks at a time, and they also leave it very much up to you whether you think you can drive or not (recent experience with torn calf). My doctor said that as long as he didnt state that I shouldnt drive, the insurance would be fine
MatthewL Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 I was supposed to be signed off last week but told them no because it would only make me worse been at home all day!! Day time TV is so boring.
