jrock2004 Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Well as a Mac user what games are you playing? Currently I am playing World of Warcraft but looking for something else. I am looking for it run without Windows. Thanks
Arthur Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 The only games I have installed on my Mac are Plants vs Zombies and Left 4 Dead. All my other games are on my Windows 7 PC since it has a much better graphics card.
mac_shinobi Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I've done it the other way around, boot camped windows xp with the minimum amount of installed items ( nLite ), installed windows games ( as they are cheaper then mac equivalents ) cleared temp files, defragged hdd, etc etc Then play games under windows I did try Doom 3 ( Demo ) on OS X but didn't see it worth while paying extra ££ just for the sake of playing it under OS X
localzuk Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Well as a Mac user what games are you playing? Currently I am playing World of Warcraft but looking for something else. I am looking for it run without Windows. Thanks Eve online.
markzilla Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 I hate a lot of trouble with bootcamp trying to install Windows 7... has anybody else tried this? Apparently W7 doesn't have driver support for the graphics card in the i5 Macs
Arthur Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Do you have a Radeon HD 5870? If so, you need to download the BootCamp v3.2 update.
griffin Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Steam is now availible on a mac with a number of games availible Featured Mac Games Most importantly this means you can play Portal
beast_gts Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Try the Mac version of Steam (Welcome to Steam). Edit: Great minds think alike, eh griffin? 1
ben604 Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 A word of warning though, Steam won't work behind a proxy. We just got some 27" top end iMacs and wanted to see what they could do, but couldn't find one direct download demo of a new game to try out!
Carter Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Not main stream games but I have a list on my site here Free Cross-Platform FPS Games for Mac OS X that are free. It's been a while since I looked for new games.
IKWeb Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 World of Warcraft here!! Much better on a MAC than PC.
Carter Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Steam forward This past weekend I picked up "Left 4 Dead 2" for Mac and love it. Just watch the site for their sales. I picked up the game for $5! & though I'l need to install windows to run a few other games picked up some great titles that were cheap!
Robbocop Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Steam is the place to keep an eye on for sure. I've Bootcamped my Macbook Pro so I can play dawn of War and Command and Conquer (at home, of course, not at work ) and it works really well, but Portal works fine under OSX using steam and I think that's the way to go.
