sippo Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Has the world gone mad?!! You can now not sell Gingerbread men. They have to be sold as gingerbread person as it is unlikely to offend!!
laserblazer Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 If you made them anatomically correct would that be ok?
MK-2 Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 what about the poor ginger people, has anybody considered them?
rad Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 We have gingerbread Fred in our school canteen.....
powdarrmonkey Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 You can now not sell Gingerbread men. Who said so? Most idiotic "decrees" like this are actually locally or institutionally imposed...
Ignatius Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 It reminds me about "Spotted Dick" being renamed "Spotted Richard" a little while ago. It reverted to the former name within a few weeks. Come to think of it, is it PC for IT gurus to speak about "slaving a drive" to retrieve data etc.? I'm surprised that someone in authority hasn't raised that as a problem.
Dos_Box Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 It happened here in Lancashire the other week. Some PC nutcase in the council decided that it was sexist, but after an outcry (read 'lots of peopel not happy with teh council about this') it was once again named correctly. I do hope they sent the offending PC nutcase to be 're-educated' for their wrong thinking as they are so fond of doing to others. Schools go ginger nuts - Education - lep.co.uk
localzuk Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 The people that make these decisions do so out of a misguided attempt to prevent lawsuits and complaints, but in doing so risk the wrath of the public. Why do they think something like 'gingerbread men' would upset anyone? Next we'll be changing 'human' to 'hupeople' as the 'man' may offend someone. Surely there are more important aspects of equality to fix first?
Gatt Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 looks like LCC have done a big UTurn... BBC News - Gingerbread people revert to men at Lancashire schools
localzuk Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Other items on the renaming list: Ottoman - Ottople, Manager - Peoplger?
Gatt Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 And Jesus will no longer be born in a Manger, rather a Peopleger Away in a Peopleger, no crib for his bed Doesn't quite have the same ring to it....
