This is related to http://www.edugeek.net/forums/internet-related-filtering-firewall/62497-bgfl-ipads.html and similar issues on EMBC for proxies.

After doing some testing today with iOS 4.2 on an EMBC site and comparing it to an iPad running 3.2.2 I can happily say that we had no proxy issues going to HTTPS based sites, including pulling updates down from the app store.

Now we have to just wait until it goes live.

All the devices which have been updated so far seem to be fine. Not had anyone report back any issues. If anyone is EMBC based and has a problem please call it in to your local support or to Synetrix as well as dropping me a PM (if you don't want to post on here) and we can try and get it sorted.

Do the apps work through proxy's now?

We have iPads and iPods in school and for example the weather app does not work, and lots of apps don't seem to proxy aware.

All the apps I have tried so far seem to be proxy aware, but there was an issue with them on 3.2.2 ... what version are you running on and with what Apps? I'll try and see if they can be tested in EMBC land too.

Hi GrumbleDook,

Thanks no need to check, as we are now an academy and our internet doesn't come via the EMBC anyways, previously we were connected to the NWLG.

I've found apps just don't work that require the internet, at the minute we go via a bloxx server that requires authenication.
