The guest account enabled still prompts for username and password?
-
Ok I've come up with a temporary solution. I've created a local user on the 2003 Server called "ipad". Given it admin rights and it allows it to print
-
Ok I've followed Fabien's guide. I've allowed "Everyone" "Print" "Manage Printers" & "Manage Documents" on the printers security settings. Fabien goes more indepth regarding permissions but I cant see where these options are. I've created the new GPO with the local security policy changes as he mentions but still no joy. Our domain is .local so I'm right in thinking that this shouldn't be an issue?

Ok I've installed those and rebooted the server. Still no joy :-/

Ah right ok. The domain controller is run from our 2008 R2 server. The 2003 server just acts as a print server and sharing is done in the conventional way then I've added the bonjour & airprint services which are running fine by the looks of it. Which apple sharing stuff are you refering to?

Hi all, I didn't know where to post this so mods please move if needed. We now have 37 iPad 2s in school and have been using iPad 1s for about a year with great success. I was asked the question today about whether the iPads could print to our printers. I've followed online instructions and the iPads can now see the printers that are shared on our Server 2003 print server, however, when I press to print to any of the printers the iPad asks for a username & password. I've tried every type of combination and am having no such luck (i.e. username & password, domain\username & password, username@domain & password, domain.local\username & password) Has anyone else tried this and got around the problem? or is it (like I'm expecting) not possible on Server 2003? Cheers, James

Hi, We've just had SIMS in the classroom installed and we are connecting to it via Terminal services. All works fine however each time you try to connect it promts to install a certificate. I've tried recreating a new mandatory profile with this certificate installed but it doesn't work. Just continues to ask to install the certificate when I try to connect. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Cheers James

Hi, Just done a new server install at one of my schools and the GPO i put together for the student lockdown is coming back with SID not found or missing (or something like that lol) when running GPRESULT on the clients. How can I find out what it is and sort it, it's getting well annoying now! Cheers James

IT Services Technician @ Stamford Endowed Schools
james14100 replied to scottyses's topic in Educational IT Jobs
Gutted I've only just seen this. I live in Stamford but I'm currently commuting 30miles each way to Kibworth. This would have been ideal for me location wise. I've dropped Jacqui an email stating I'd still like to apply so fingers crossed. James -
Number 1 rule - never go out of your way for fuel. Buy it when you need it regardless

Ok I've done that and the order is now correct how I want it but it's still aligning to the right when I want it to the left, or centered, unless I fill that menu with items it's going to look a bit daft

Well my copy arrived yesterday - OMG it's unreal! So much more than I ever expected. I can see many an evening being taken up by it. Anyone else got it yet? James

Brilliant news - I haven't got ours updated yet but I hope this also fixes the Mail app so it doesn't take two hours to send emails lol

Hi, I've been using the edugeek package to put this site together: Farndon Fields Primary School I want the main menu to navigate left - right not right - left (so home is on the left, then news to its right etc etc) Is there an easy way to do this other than reoganising the menu to that "home" is at the end? Cheers, James

This worked perfectly - thanks djones!

I am also having the same issue. I have TT 11.8.0 installed via GP (just rolled out the MSI in the CD ROM from a network share), however I now have no way of deploying the recent MSP update 11.8.3, other than doing it manually

Admin rights to memory pens for encryption software
james14100 replied to james14100's topic in Windows
I've just tried this by creating an MSI to no avail. However the frustrating this is that any machine that I login via admin use it then try using a staff login it works. There must be a way around this :-/ -
Admin rights to memory pens for encryption software

Surely if I install that driver across the network then elsewhere it 'should' be fine? -
Admin rights to memory pens for encryption software
james14100 replied to james14100's topic in Windows
It's the Lexar JumpDrive Secure 2 encryption software. I don't want to install any software I want it to work natively on the pen so it work anywhere -
Admin rights to memory pens for encryption software
james14100 replied to james14100's topic in Windows
Its only restricted through GPO but can't see where?! It doesn't install anything but for some reason the software embedded into the pens needs admin rights -
Hi, As subject says really, I have ordered in a load of memory pens which i need to apply administrator rights for all logins to so that the built in encryption software can work. Is there a way around this? Cheers James

30miles door to door. Takes 40mins (great free road) to drive. Used to be 22miles but took and hour and a half cos of driving through the centre of Leicester everyday, I hated it! Love the commute now but would love to work where I live just because of costs of travelling. It's easily £300pm in fuel costs! -
Thanks, works a treat. For future reference the printer does not even show as an option so no error message can occur James
