sister_annex Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Great - I'll look out for a nun then (your username always reminds me of nuns, must be the 'sister' bit) haha I may suggest that to the other half just to make me easier to spot lol I just hope it does not rain!
firefox_2006 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Here is something that might make some of you jealous. About a month or so ago I got a friend request on facebook from an old school friend, so I added him. Turns out he is now an airline pilot and is currently flying the Foo Fighters on their tour, talk about jammy g!t lol
Hightower Posted June 15, 2011 Author Posted June 15, 2011 I'm going on the Sunday, anyone else going on the Sunday? It will be the 4th or 5th time I've seen them since the first time I saw them at the Reading Festival in 2005, they just keep getting better and better. They are like a good whiskey - gets better with age.
maniac Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Finally got my tickets this morning, they took long enough! Talk about cutting it fine Mr See Tickets! Now I'm getting quite excited about this gig, it promises to be good!
Hightower Posted June 30, 2011 Author Posted June 30, 2011 Finally got my tickets this morning, they took long enough! Talk about cutting it fine Mr See Tickets! Now I'm getting quite excited about this gig, it promises to be good! Our tickets came on Saturday. I confirmed with the campsite earlier this week, and all the camping gear is ready (just needs lifting downstairs ready to pack in the morning. We're taking my Dads car and he is giving that a quick service tonight (oils, water, tyres etc). Then it's up bright and early, head to Milton Keynes campsite, tent up, and pizza hut for dinner. I really can't wait now, but this morning I woke up with a sore throat and extremely heavy eyes - really struggling now, and can't wait to crash into bed at 5 o'clock tonight with the dog! Really don't want to be ill for the gig (and hoping I only have a sore throat from the 12 gallons of water I took on board from the swimming baths on Tuesday!) but I remember when Dave was ill at the Big Weekend in Sunderland and He fought through it, so if He can, I can too. Side note, but is anybody staying at the campsite in Milton Keynes on Friday/Saturday night?
ben604 Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 I've got my tickets for Saturday night! Can't wait. I saw them at Hyde Park and Old Trafford a few years ago and it was excellent. We looked at camping, but it was £30-odd each! So we're spending £15 each for a taxi back to Cambridge to stay at my Aunties. Ace.
Pyroman Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Woohoo Tickets came yesterday, Going down for the sunday gig, can't wait =D
maniac Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 I got quite a foo fighters ticket collection going on now, the price for this latest one is roughly double what I paid in 2005

We looked at camping, but it was £30-odd each! So we're spending £15 each for a taxi back to Cambridge to stay at my Aunties. Ace. It's costing us £40 per person, for 2 nights camping, electric hookup, and the bus to/from the venue. Not cheap for camping still, but a lot cheaper than getting a hotel for the two nights (as well as more fun) and at least we don't have to worry about transport.

Was immense! Wasn't keen on the Futureheads, but enjoyed Eagles of Death metal, especially having Dave drum for them. Foo's light show was fantastic at Earls Court, and the only light show I've seen that has been better was Muse.

Ah yes, that was a good show, I seem to recall they had some pretty clever laser lighting. I've seen muse a few times as well and agree they also put on a good show, wembly stadium was partiularly good.
Heebeejeebee Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 I'm going on Saturday. Looking forward to it. HBJB
maniac Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Rep to the person who manages to get a photo of themselves with dave ghrol. (no photoshopping allowed)

Hightower Posted July 3, 2011 Author Posted July 3, 2011 This weekend has quite literally been one of the best weekends ever! Even though I've been ill I managed to get through a long day yesterday and it was totally worth the suffering! Biffy Clyro were absolutely fantastic, and FF were, well words can't describe. Won't mention anything 'special' about the gig yet as people may be checking this before the FF's come on (although I don't know why anyone would!) Will post some photo's up when my dad takes them off the camera. We got talking to a couple at the gig which was good craic, and also a couple of german lads on the campsite who are going tonight as well as last night - they had hospitality tickets, lucky sods. Any how, 15 minutes and tonights guests will be having their socks rocked off
Hightower Posted July 4, 2011 Author Posted July 4, 2011 Well, it seemed last night had different special guests to us - they had Seasick Steve and John Paul Jones apparently. We had Peter Taylor and Alice F****** Cooper (Dave's words, not mine!) Still haven't been sent the photo's by my dad but will stick some up here as soon as he does.
ben604 Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 So, we went to see the Foo Fighters on Saturday. Everything went as expected, we didn't see Tame Impala or Death Cab, but we managed to arrive for Biffy, who were fine. As an aside, it was nice to see Mike Vennart, once of Oceansize fame, on a nice big stage in front 60-odd thousand. He's got an interesting way of playing guitar. Aaaaanyway, the Foos do what they usually do, played lots of good and a couple of bad songs very well. Fun was had by all.... UNTIL... Someone during the excitement jumped on my girlfriends foot and injured her big toe (the hospital later confirmed it's broken!). She was in a bit of pain, but alcohol had numbed her somewhat, so she said she'd carry on when someone else jumped on it by accident again! She turned to me and said "My toe really hurts, I think it might be broken" and promptly fainted. About 10 seconds pass of me trying to wake her up and she comes around and is back to her feet, I asked her if she was alright and she said "yeah, I'm ok" obviously embarrassed! I then said, jokingly, "don't do that again!", to which she replied "I might have to..." and dropped like a sack of spuds to the floor again, this time eyes WIDE open, staring into space, completely limp. It took about 20 seconds for her to come to, the last 4-5 seconds she was obviously trying to work out who the hell I was. Very scary. So the security lifted her out, along with me and we went to get her treated, back stage! The band had finished while we were being escorted back there, so we didn't get to meet the band, but as she was getting treated, a big dude walks past with some drum sticks, so I shouted "excuse me! Are they...?" and he walked straight up and handed me the sticks without saying a word and walked off, only to return about 3 minutes later with a T-shirt and a badge thing for my gf! Nice gent. At that point I had to ask if they were Taylor's, to which he replied "yeah man, I'm his drum tech, he warmed up with them earlier". http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6057/5899008670_6f0398d16e_b.jpg We got home safe and sound. The end.

Kinda makes me wish I had sunday tickets now. Death cab and impala were...not good would much prefer seasick steve and jpj > alice cooper + Roger taylor
Hightower Posted July 4, 2011 Author Posted July 4, 2011 We turned up at our campsite on Friday and were promptly informed by the owner that the tents next to ours belonged to the sound engineers for the gig.

Yes seasick steve and John Paul Jones were pretty good guests. Foo Fighters always have guests at their gigs, and rarely repeat the same ones. They had quite a few perform on stage with them throughout the gig. The best moment of the sunday night was the qaulity moment with the crowd who just went nuts with the 'woooooooo hoooooo oooooo' bit from best of you for a good 2 minutes or so. Then the same thing got repeated later on in a gap between songs which was quality. There's actually a good video of the first time on youtube

It happened during the part in the song where it goes quiet, then the crowd started singing it for an encore, and then at the end of the gig everyone was singing it on the way out too. Dave's words were something like "man, you guys are easy"
Pyroman Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 My favourite nutter from sunday This goes out to the crazy MF In the boat!
