Oh FFS! I just finished developing 2 silverlight applications for use in Sharepoint!! Developing native sharepoint webparts is like pulling teeth, Silverlight is a dream compared to it.

just speculating here - was it not last week or the week before that the adobe people and microsoft people met?

It isn't being pulled. It is simply having focus taken away from it. So, this equates to much of the development team being refocussed to other tasks. They say they'll keep on maintaining it, as it is key to their phones and also to business clients with homogeneous network environments.

Yeap, its one of the two core technologies for WP7 development and is basicly a cut down version of WPF which is the replacement to GDI+ in non fosilised versions of windows like Vista and 7. I don't think the technology of skills in it will be completely dropped as it has those other areas to fall back on. Its ashame, I liked Silverlight as it acoumplished the cleanest video streaming experiences I have ever witnessed on New Zealand Internet connections and was rock solid in compariton to flash (unless you were using it in Chrome).

SchoolComms does use Silverlight, but they mention HTML5 so developers who would have worked on video streaming may have been tasked elsewhere. Why bother to push video through Silverlight if the browser can already with HTML5?

It's not like people haven't stopped selling content which needs Authorware, the player for that was last updated in 2004.
