NetDiag Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Hello Dan! I bet you are the same Dan Whittaker that used to work for those gits at Refresh Computers in Purbrook/Havant! I saw Jimbo the other week & I couldnt believe that he, yourself, stressed Pete, and virtually all the decent staff had moved on. No wonder Refresh looks like it's going down the pan as a PC supplier! I see sweaty betty still works there tho!
Elky Posted January 26, 2007 Author Posted January 26, 2007 Haha, I've been found out! I left there about a year ago now for pastures new and I have to say I haven't looked back since. Best decision I ever made. Pete is also with us as our technical manager so at least you know you'll be in safe hands if you ever dealt with us! I'd love to know who I'm speaking to by the way??
Paul_L Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Sorry Dan, but how can these be perfect for kitting out an IT suite when they come with MS XP Home on them? Paul
Elky Posted January 26, 2007 Author Posted January 26, 2007 Hi Paul The only reason we advertise them with XP Home is because a lot of schools will have their own site licence and only require a basic form of Windows to upgrade from. Obviously for schools that do not have this, we can supply them with Windows XP Pro on the PCs instead for an increased cost. Hope this helps. Maybe I'll change the wording! Dan *Edit: wording now changed. Sorry for the confusion
NetDiag Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Pete, I could tell you but it's fun making you ex-Refresh guys squirm trying to work it out! lol! I have to say when I worked at Refresh I was greatly entertained by your antics which included flying up and down the stairs at great speeds to meet various customer demands simultaneously and electrocuting yourself on metalic objects with the static! I distinctly remember one day when you got especially stressed and things ended up with a screwdriver being embedded in the wall.
Paul_L Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 *Edit: wording now changed. Sorry for the confusion Okay thanks Dan, by the way good price! Paul
Elky Posted January 26, 2007 Author Posted January 26, 2007 flying up and down the stairs at great speeds to meet various customer demands simultaneously and electrocuting yourself on metalic objects with the static! That's service for you!
CyberNerd Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 @Elky - so how much less for no windows ? Most people RIS or image their machines.
NetDiag Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Yeah it certainly was! That's why the quality of stock range and availability now at 'You know where' leaves a lot to be desired because it's not Pete doing the ordering anymore for them! (Note the above statement was not intended to lick arse as i'm not really an arse licker during work hours or in my spare time)
Elky Posted January 26, 2007 Author Posted January 26, 2007 Hi CyberNerd - £249.00 without Windows but obviously we'd normally need to supply it with Windows and then the customer can upgrade or do as they wish. If you would like a quotation then drop me an e-mail - [email protected] and I'll sort it out straight away for you Thanks Dan

I can only think of Gene off the top of my head ! Am I right?
plexer Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Cybernerd: Wether you ris or image them they presumably need some form of licence on them depending on your licencing model? Ben
NetDiag Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Dan! I feel insulted now! I'm definitely not that twat Gene!
Elky Posted January 26, 2007 Author Posted January 26, 2007 Well I didnt think you sounded like him but I can't think who else it might be! Give me a clue
NetDiag Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Worked in production in Purbrook with Jim, Gene, and Craig at one point but left shortly before Production relocated to Havant.
NetDiag Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 No it's not Alex! I used to assemble PCs, Bundles, Shuttles, and Leviathan DVRs right next to Craig under the careful supervision of Jimbo at the time. Maybe you don't remember me! LMAO!
Elky Posted January 26, 2007 Author Posted January 26, 2007 It was a long time ago and so many staff came and went, especially after we moved to Havant! Did you do production only or were you on technical support or worked in the shop??
NetDiag Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 In production only. From what I remember I didn't really have many dealings with you as you were upstairs and I was downstairs. I'm sure Pete remembers me though if he casts his mind back to late 2003-mid 2004.
Elky Posted January 26, 2007 Author Posted January 26, 2007 Glad I don't have to keep guessing now! Hows things? Where are you at nowadays?
