disable widescreen on a Compaq 615

We have bought several of these to drive our IWBs. They work very well.

 

However, because the laptops are widescreen, and the projectors are 1024x768, it doesn't fully show everything on the IWB. I have created a bat file to change the laptop resolution to 1024x768 when projecting it on the IWB.

 

However, when the laptop is in this resolution, it doesn't look very nice.

 

Is there a way to still have the laptop in 1024x768 on a widescreen, but perhaps it centers the screen and has black on the sides? I think I've seen this before.
