elsiegee40 Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 (edited) Big thumbs up to edugeek for supporting the awareness month. What specifically is the site doing to support it? And what would you like us to do to help? Hope you will be supporting Movember too! Edited October 15, 2010 by elsiegee40
mdrabble Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 :thumb:Would be nice to see the site go pink for the day/month in support of awareness month Love to edugeek logo
EduTech Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 It is very good to see us a community supporting this month, maybe we should setup a donations site Online fundraising donations and ideas - JustGiving and see how much us Edugeekers can put together. James.
srochford Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Hope you will be supporting Movember too! That would be good. Can I also sneak in a mention for Keep Your Eye On The Ball - Home Page and Everyman - The Home of Prostate Cancer and Testicular Cancer- Home
witch Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 It's great - but there are many many health initiatives, so how does edugeek decide which one to support? Although in the interest of gender fairness, the prostrate and testicular cancer ones sounds a worthwhile cause

Although in the interest of gender fairness, the prostrate and testicular cancer ones sounds a worthwhile cause lol admins had same chat as if we did it for this we would have to start doing it for others. Also prostrate cancer week already marked in sysmans calendar. As for giving donate page think that is a very good idea.. Russ
witch Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Nah - I noticed yesterday and quietly approved!
witch Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 ..... Also prostrate cancer week already marked in sysmans calendar. Is prostrate cancer the one where you have to lie down a lot? 2
sippo Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I do Tacheback every year, and only just realised it has changed to November. Doh!! Last year I raised nearly £400. Great bit of fun, for a great cause.
teejay Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Good idea having a Just Giving page, I was also wondering if we could do something geeky, does anyone know if there are any cancer research distributed computing projects we could donate computer time to? I'm looking forward to seeing the superb creative talents of this site create a site logo supporting prostate and testicular cancer...
srochford Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I'm looking forward to seeing the superb creative talents of this site create a site logo supporting prostate and testicular cancer... I'm sure something could be stolen from the "Don't be a spanner, check your nuts" campaign :-)
elsiegee40 Posted October 15, 2010 Author Posted October 15, 2010 It's taken you all 24 hours to notice!!!!! I noticed as soon as it went up too, but was too busy to comment. When I eventually got onto eduggek yesterday, I was surprised nobody had!
DrummerBoy Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 It's taken you all 24 hours to notice!!!!! I noticed yesterday Bro. Me and my good lady thank you, and you know why.
witch Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Consider one made. As with most edugeek logos get wind of soemthing and think hummm I'll make an EduGeek logo for that. So...can we tell you of any charity initiatives we hear about?
carvjo Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Sort of linked to the original thread.. A Friend of ours works as a research scientist in Nottingham, she (Cinzia - the Italian lady speaking in this clip) can be seen here discussing a breakthrough linked to the ability of salamanders to regrow damaged limbs that may one day lead to a cure for breast cancer.. fascinating stuff!
