oooh quite glad to see the School Food Trust on that list, fine I am all for good healthy school meals etc but some of the the things our catering manager has to jump through to meet the ideals they came up with that seem to become legislative on school food are just wasting time and silly.

Ironic that the £3.5billion/year black hole that is the BBC are gloatingly publishing list's of quangos to be abolished.

Qualification and curriculum Development Agency <-- just how much of a full time job is developing qualifications and curriculums???

It was only set up last year, after 4 years of bitter arguments between unions, local authorities and the government. ie. it was that or the possibility of striking. So, this govt would rather have strikes.

It depends on how much and how frequently the Govt changes the goal posts.

They had just started to get going ... if the teachers have a pay review board then why shouldn't school support staff have one. Each LA is generally doing the single status thing on their own and there have been so many rants in here about how unfair and inconsistent pay is for techies and NMs in schools ... if we are going to go down the single status route (which it looks like it will hit everyone sooner or later) I would prefer it to be based on a national scheme rather than let each LA fsck it up on their own!

Unfortunately there is only 1 Jamie Oliver ... (come might say 'fortunately', I know ..) and he does also have to earn cash too ... also, Govts will sometimes not like some outsider coming in and telling them how to do things ... unless they invite them in, of course ... better to have a Govt backed group to tell them how to do things ... it give politicians someone to blame then.

It's not being chopped into tiny pieces yet by Cameron's axe...but it it on the list of under threat schemes!

 

As for the support workers scheme, I didn't even know they existed until I saw the list!

Teacher's TV have just announced they are being axed as of April 2011. I'm hoping that the transition of content isn't about loading everything onto YouTube.
