Network Shutdown

Hi am looking for a script or software which would allow me to schedule remote shutdown on our network computers (Student machines in classroom).

 

I have tried puting in a script in to GPO Startup script batch file but with no success.

 

Code is

 

AT 18.00 SHUTDOWN -S -F -T 60 -C "This machine will shut down in 60 seconds please save all your work"

With my slightly biased hat on, Shutdownertron - decentralised, group policy directed shutdowns with user abort.

If you setup a FOG server to ease deployment of images an extra bolt on you can set is that after a set time (here we use 16:00) if nobody has been logged in for 15 mins the machines shutdown - this stops staff moaning that they where working late and you have shutdown there computers!

Installed the sanpin to Group Policy.

 

But not filtering onto client machines. Am i missing something is there a client install or should it be pushed through GP

What i meant was installed the template into the gp snapin.

 

But this is not having any effect on the client machine.

Shutdownertron + 1. Although, any ideas as to when this may be released as I am stuck with machines not shutting down if locked or asleep (would love to be able to wake them up and then shutdown properly).

Hi i might be a bit dim here.

 

Installed shutdown on server 2008r2 so added it to group policy and enabled desired settings.

 

This did not work on my client machines.

 

Do i have to push client software to the client machine for this to work?

Yes, from what I remember you create a new policy with the software installation settings set to the .msi and the .mst where applicable, then apply this policy to the OUs containing the machines you want to shutdown.
