Hi all.

We are using symantec backup exec 12.5 to backup server files. However it is missing out a lot of files relating to exchange. I've attached part of the log file to this post. Could someone let us know if they require backup or if they are just log files to ease or concern.

We are running windows server 2003 R2.

Cheers.

Nothing in there that would worry me.. it's in use DB files and other in use stuff one would expect to get skipped. But do you have the Backup Exec Exchange Agent i.e. some ticks specifically relating to Exchange Information stores etc. in the job backup selection?

I don't have the exchange 2007 management tools installed on any of my backup exec servers, and exchange backs up correctly for me.

I've even had to restore mailboxes (and occasionally items within a mailbox) several times without fault. So i'm not sure why you would need them installed to backup exchange.

::topic drift:: That's interesting because Symantec very clearly state it is a requirement on BE media servers that are remotely backing up Exchange servers e.g. see their TECH51740.
