Roaming profiles + GPP Printers

It seems whenever a roaming profile user logs in to multiple places the printers in GPP printers are sticking with their profile

 

User logs in to classroom T8 - gets T8 printer, user then goes to learning support and gets the LSP printer, user goes back to T8 and now has the T8 printer and the LSP printer, the LSP one also taking over as default even though the T8 one is meant to be the default.

 

What's the best way of resolving this?

 

I was thinking of trying a "delete all shared printer connections" policy and then having it readd the printer, but im not sure that would work out too well

when i needed to do that (2k 2k3 server) i use con2print.. and logon script. i set a environment variable room= if it returned 10 it mapped the printer in room 10 and so on.. GPP never was that good.. i find in 2008server it works fine.. so i use that..

This is server 2008R2, previously used to use a logon script that used the PCs name (all PCs are named "ROOMNAME_ROOMNUMBER" so it looked at the name before the underscore and used the appropriate logon script) not a fix i'd like to use though, looking to keep GPP.

I use GPP for Printer and Drive Mappings and so far works fine.

 

This is with Windows XP and Windows 2003 Domain, with local profiles though.

 

I enable the "delete all shared printer connections" policy first, then add the appropriate printer(s) along with appropriate "targeting" and the "remove this item when it is no longer applied" enabled.

with the Client Side Extensions .EXE I found 2 different ver.. on a 1k in size different bit one works and the other ones does not.. Strange..

..

I seem to be having the same issue.

 

Staff and students that have logged in in multiple locations seem to start harvesting printers to follow them around.

 

Im pretty sure i didnt have the issue in Vista, however i made a lot of changes to group policy when making the move to 7.

We have 1 printer GPP that deploys all printers based on PC location (using loopback processing). To stop the profiles filling with printers the very first GPP that's applied is remove all existing printer connections, then the remaining printers are processed. Works for us

 

We are however having some other issues with W7/GPOs/GPPs/Printers, but that's for another thread!

I say down yesterday and tested the method that MYK-IT and Soulfish have mentioned and it works a treat.

 

Using the Group Policy Preference i set the first action to "Delete All" then added all of the printers.

 

Re-arranged them so machines that have multiple printers (Staff laptops etc..), there last installed prriner is the default (as some printers are defaults for other locations).

 

Since yesterday it has worked a treat! Much better than pushing them out with Print Management to a machine.

I assume that Psymon has added 'Targeting' to each and every printer, and will only connect based on his required targeting criteria (for example: OU, Security Group Membership etc). This does not show on the 2 screen shots uploaded.

Correct.

 

The security groups are computer groups, as we deploy printers per location.
