Promethean and Neighbours

Channel 5's episode of neighbours today was one big plug for Promethean. (No I don't usually, but ED is addicted to it!)

 

They shamelessly plug apple kit regularly... all the computers you see are apple.

 

Libby couldn't get to grips with the new ActivBoard at Erinsborough High and it finished with someone writing on the board with a marker pen just before the governor's meeting and they couldn't clean it off! So far, so realistic.

 

No sign of a stressed edugeek being called to work miracles before the governors arrived though! Clearly a work of fiction after all!

Saw it myself and immediately Facebook-ripped it. Typical Australia, how many years have we had to put up with these things here?

 

Besides, I refuse to believe Libby would be that dumb. I wub her too much!

 

 

PS: Also not a fan. It just happened to be providing background noise whilst people were cooing over baby.

I clocked this quaint slice of Australasia yesterday and must admit it did make me chuckle, in particular the suggestion of "can't we just use white paint on it?" .

 

Out of interest has anyone had this really happen in their school?

Yup, just about 19mins, absolutely excellent, it's that "oh %$£&!!! moment.

Very reminscent of my student days with OHPs in the lecture theatre - Us spotting the trailing edge of the roll of slide film going over the glass and the lecturer blithely carrying on writing with OHP pen straight onto the projector!

Our Household manager became quite good at getting whiteboard marker off of interactive whiteboards during the first couple of years we had them. People have learnt now though! Still I have seen one teaher has a sign stuck to the edge of their board which says "I am not a normal whiteboard, do not write on me"

We have got this at our school as well. Some teachers don't like using the interactive boards and forget about what pen to use

I have seen a teacher once write onto the whiteboard with what seemed to be a permanent marker. The ICT Manager had a meeting for all Staff which was to be conducted in groups in each ICT Suite. His was in this room. It was sooo funny. All you heard was the scream and scrubbing of our ICT Manager whilst trying to get this mess off the board with what was jiff and a scrubber.

 

Its a good job promethean boards have a hard surface

We have a projector screen with "n'ecrivez pas sur cet ecran" after the languages dept borrowed one of our rooms and wrote in permanent pen on the projector screen in French

I've been lucky, worst I get is some picture blue-tacked onto the board and a frantic call asking why the mouse wont work properly
