Hi all we allow our children access to webmail via exchange server 2003 all be it fairly restricted, they can only accept emails from staff , so they can only send to staff, problem is they are sending to my allstaff@... address and winding the staff up, now given that i only just gave them email access back i really don't want to take it away again.(not when we nearly have a useful system now in place)

My question how can i stop my students sending to allstaaf@ distrubution group but still allow them to send to individual staff of their choosing?

You still have the exchange properties on mail enabled distribution groups. I presume the distribution group is set up through users and computers? If it is, just use users and computers on the exchange server or install exchange tools to see the extra attributes.

Simple, our Principal received stupid emails. The users were removed from email access, letters home, severe de-b*ll*cking - no one does it any more.

p.s. I also then added the restriction of the students not sending to staff. :)

Uraken,

You may also want to limit the no of recipient the students can send to. Once you take this away they'll start sending it to lots of other students.

The recipient limit can be set on the policy or each individual student account. Of course with tools like ADmodify.net its all done in an instant. Here we have disabled access to the staff's global address book altogether and also set the recipient limit to 3 - 4 individuall using the admodify tool.

There is another program (shareware / trial) called Ad-Infinitum.a google of ad-infinitum active directory should pull it up. Thirty day trial should be enough.

I highly recommend AdInfinitum (no i dont work for them!) We only really use it once a year , but it's great for bulk import, creates all the directories and shares, set permissions, can be used to set all AD properties including exchange ones. etc. Great stuff. I think we paid £120 or something like that.

oh ok i have this installed and working (i bought it dirt cheap years ago) so will look for this feature in there. i can't remember seeing a feature to limit the amount of users a user can mail at once but i guess i never really looked for that.

@Uraken,

Are you using the admodify.net ? this will require the server with MS .net Framework installed v1.1 will do.

What kind of problems are you having?

It also requires that you don't run it from a network share! copy it to the local drive
