Got a bit of a problem with Cubase Essentials 4. I've installed it on a test iMAC which is fully set up on AD and OD. when I log in using the local admin account and run Cubase it works. When I log in using a test AD pupil account and run Cubase it hangs at Initalising Content. Then I have to force quit the application as it doesn't work.

 

Has anyone come across this problem before? If so how can I sort it?

 

If not, how can I uninstall Cubase and then try re-installing it as there is no uninstall program.

It'll be a 'permissions' based problem most likely, Troubleshooting permissions issues in Mac OS X

When launching the application, have the console window open It will point you in the right direction as to what is happening. If it is a permissions problem then it will probably say so in the logs. If not it may help you find out what the problem is.

Generally, deleting mediabay.db fixes the issue... give it a try (preferably by just renaming it mediabay.bak or similar - s'usually found in /Users/[user]/Library/Preferences/[CUBASE FOLDER]/)

fs_usage to output just the files being accessed to see what its doing with the file system...

 

Are you mounting the home folders over SMB ? which a few mac applications do not handle well due to attributes and such so to rule that out try it with a forced local home folder, with a home folder hosted on a mac server or a windows server with ExtremeZ-IP which will essentially enable your windows server to act like mac file servers ( Integration: The Technical Bit - Jigsaw Systems Ltd ) .

 

You could also look at redirecting any offending files to the local drive...
