whats the differance between EMF and PCL 5/6

Can someone please tell me what the differance is between these 2 printer languages, as on the print logger we have doesnt seem to relate the information from the PCL 5/6 language correctly?

What i mean is, when you print multiple copies of a document (to a printer that has the PCL language), which has a page of text and that page is printed 4 times, the print logger show that 4 pages have been printed and not 4 copies, but with the EMF language it displays it correctly. Oh, im using printlogger.

 

Is there a way to turn the PCL 5/6 language to EMF?

EMF is basically a big picture. It's an updated version of WMF.

PCL is a printer control language (similar to Postscript) it was invented by HP.

 

The two systems are totally different from one another. I suspect PCL -> EMF would be possible but the reverse deffinately isn't true due to the raster format of EMF.

ahh ok, we running HPs but one has the EMF language, how do you convert a document to the emf language? Does it have to be set in the driver of the printer?

the one that has the EMF language is the HP 1320 NW. but am trying to find out if the HP 2200 2300 and the p2015d will support it too

It's in the spooler settings in the printer driver.

oh, that the printer driver that is usually on the cd or can it be changed in the properties of the printer?

ive been looking through the properties and the only thing i can find with regards to spooling is under advanced and there are 2 options.

Your in the right place. On that screen press the print process button.
