Netbooks built via CC4 with Windows 7

Just doing an upgrade to SR2 on CC4 and have been asked to build some netbooks (with XP home out of the box) to Windows 7, and use them on the CC4 network, has anyone managed to get the PXE build process to work on any Netbooks?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

They just use the usal Intel adapters - if RM are staying on the ball (and expecily if you bought the netbooks from RM) they should have the drivers out in the most recent driver packs.

If not just install Windows 7 and use something like gimagex to do your own imgaging then smartclient away

I managed to do this in the end by creating an image using the Win 7 Sysprep and setting the image for the netbooks OOBE etc, splatting it out via USB key to all 30 and then using the RM SmartClient to get the CC4 sections across.

RM stated that the Pixie would not work with the Netbooks supplied !!

Never a problem I used to do this with our HP Notebooks as it was impossible to inject some of the HP drivers into the RM PXE build process

Or just import the network drivers into CC4, add them to the build disk and refresh the WDS image. No reason at all to smartclient anything with CC4.

How do you do this?

I was trying this today and wasn't sure the process

 

I imported drivers from the management xibsole but wasn't sure what else I need to do

I know how to do it now but the laptops I'm trying to build use the RTL8186 card.

 

The windows PE environment created by the CC4 server I'm trying to do this on is based on vista.

 

The vista drivers don't seem to work

 

I've even installed vista on one of the laptops to check the driver but I think its incomptabile with the OS

 

The network card shows code 10 no matter what driver (device cannot start)

 

Is there a specific pack etc to run on a CC4 server to get the pe environment to upgrade to be based on windows 7?

 

If not, can someone list a rundown of how I should set up windows 7 to be ready to use smart cclient as in, user accounts, passwords and if sysprep is required etc or just a basic build with the correct drivers and build away?

 

I kept getting errors at stage 3 of smart client .. I think it was called upgrade boot assistant or such like
