computerguy replied to Warwick_Tech's topic in Windows 10
Hoping you guys can maybe assist so.. what I'm trying to do Desktop redirected to same network folder for all They are not allowed to write to it, we set the shortcuts for them. This works fine. We also want to be able to use GPP to add some shortcuts which don't apply to all and could be more specific I've tried using preferences to make shortcuts to desktopdir allusersdesktop dir in user preferences, and same in computer ... nothing appears -
We have a few CC4 schools and one of mine has the issue that when people want to log off, it takes forever Logging Off... shows for several minutes it means people often done log off, leave laptops on and eventually lose mapped drives and printers because of this any tips to fix up this logging off issue? Thanks

computerguy replied to circlestech's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Old thread but it's the issue I'm having rebuilding 2 computers today 1 ecoquiet desktop rebuilt with a build floppy - no issues, doing everything automatically 1 laptop being smart cliented - I have to keep running installrm to make progress how would I know my tools folder is corrupted, if 1 PC is building, I would assume it's fine? Tried the autoexnt reinstall thanks -

Thanks ps client machines are windows 7

Where to download CC3 Service Releases?

So they don't just link them on the support site? Seems a bit crazy!! -
I'm currently building a virtual CC3 server purely for creating packages as the server and PCs we currently use are not available. I can't seem to find any Service Releases in the RM Support site. Can anyone give me any links or article references? I am installing Application Wizard which needs a minimum of SR4 but the later the better, I suppose! Unsure if the RM site is crap or I'm just not on the ball today. Thanks

Hi Background: I have made a CC3 Package which basically opens dpinst.exe silently and installs drivers required to allow photo transfer from iphones and ipads. Doing it this way as it means no services are running in the background etc. Just the necessary drivers installed. Works fine in CC3. It installs the package by running the exe with the command /s ini file is as follows: [Package] Description=Apple USB Driver Version=1.0 EXEFile=dpinst.exe AddCommand= /S OS=5.WS If I import this into CC4, it fails - but doesn't give me any indication of why in the tasks or eventvwr of the server or PC?? If I export the package and run it manually, it works.. I'm at a loss as to what I need to do, to get it to deploy with no intervention on CC4 If anyone can assist, would appreciate it. Cheers Apple USB Driver pkg.zip

Thanks I'll look into that next week as I'm a bit worried the users will find them to be quite frustrating!

Anyone buy Apple machines just for the build quality?
computerguy replied to spacebar's topic in Mac
Just quicker for certain tasks or situations. Although a macbook air with a detachable lid that runs iOS would be properly handy, they'd never do it -

I wish they'd hurry up and add touch to their macbooks. I found an apple price list in one of my schools and someone had circled the retina macbooks and noted they were the touchscreen models. A red sharpie quickly resolved this misunderstanding! -

I've started to use it again just by pushing the windows key and typing the name of whatever I want. Actually makes me work quicker than in 7 but it is still cumbersome navigating through menus to find things. Confusing for everyone I think, unfortunately! -
So many accidental clicks etc and it just feels very clunky. Before I used one I thought it looked nice but it especially ruins trackpad use for me. I'd pay extra for some buttons back!

I love track points too, I use an X220 for work with the pad disabled. Macbook air at home -

Good point, I don't think a trackpad on a Mac has ever made me walk away from the laptop in complete anger! -
Anyone else used the new touch/trackpads on Lenovo X240, E531 etc? Finding them absolutely dire! Using one makes me think of the equally tragic BlackBerry Storm!

One thing you can't deny is you don't see such strong opinions about many other brands, whether good or bad people seem to really have an opinion on them!
