Best fill the bottles now and store them safely - the next step after hosepipe bans is turning off the water completely and going to standpipes in the street. Can't remember when that last happened but pretty sure it's in my (very long!) lifetime.

Standpipes, when I was young they cut the water off and kept bringing bowsers to the top of the street, this is maybe 10 years ago. Wasn't sure if it was an isolated incident, but vaguely remember it being the summer of 99 or 00 when we had a scorching summer. This was in Lancaster, that year we went up to the resovoir just outside of Lancaster, can't remember name, and it was virtually empty.

As for hospipe ban, i'll just have to dig the big watering can out! ahh who am i kidding, just won't bother, only got 2 lawns that need watering no plants or anything!! But have always used a bucket to wash car, just seems to be habit!

Does anyone know if the hosepipe ban will affect schools?
