kingswood Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Hi. Sadly we will be looking for a Technician in the new year. If anyone is interested please PM me your CV between now and the end of January. The post will be for an "ICT Technician" and be more entry level (right now) than anything. There is lots of room for advancement though. Again, PM me if you need more info. Thanks, Paul Munro Senior Systems Manager, The Kingswood School Corby
StewartKnight Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 you've got me wondering...... why sadly?
GrumbleDook Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Because after spending the time and effort to get gecko to understand how things work he gets enough experience to move on to a job with more money ... so someone else has to brought in ... trained in the school set up ... Then again ... it has meant he has got rid of Shane ;-)
Geoff Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Because after spending the time and effort to get gecko to understand how things work he gets enough experience to move on to a job with more money ... so someone else has to brought in ... trained in the school set up ... It seems rather silly to me schools don't stump up the cash to keep the technicians they've trained up. That training up costs money after all (admittedly it's not a obvious cost in some circumstances depending on the format of the training).
StewartKnight Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 perhaps it's symptomatic of the view from the teaching establishment that anyone working in schools, who isn't a teacher, is pretty much worthless?
john Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 perhaps it's symptomatic of the view from the teaching establishment that anyone working in schools, who isn't a teacher, is pretty much worthless?I agree with that, I have found that it takes you to go for other jobs before current places start thinking about how they can keep you and often its too late for them anyway.
webman Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 The way schools see it, is that they can just drag someone in off the street to do the job, just like with cover teachers!

Thanks for recognising how much hard work goes into training someone Tony. I'm sure that we will find someone worth the time. Paul
palmer_eldritch Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 The way schools see it, is that they can just drag someone in off the street to do the job, just like with cover teachers! Exactly. So long as there's a bum on the right seat, who gives a toss what they're actually doing ?
kingswood Posted January 18, 2007 Author Posted January 18, 2007 Well, closing date is approaching and we have had over 30 applicants! The quality of those applying on the whole is fantastic. I've had some pleasant meetings with prospectives and chats over the phone with people who I think will help me support ICT in the school. Thanks to those who have enquired and good luck to those who are (at this very moment) being selected for interview! Paul
kingswood Posted January 18, 2007 Author Posted January 18, 2007 Am I in with a chance then? Sorry Tony. We have high standards, ya know?
john Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Am I in with a chance then? Bored of Manglement already Tony?
