Because after spending the time and effort to get gecko to understand how things work he gets enough experience to move on to a job with more money ... so someone else has to brought in ... trained in the school set up ...

It seems rather silly to me schools don't stump up the cash to keep the technicians they've trained up. That training up costs money after all (admittedly it's not a obvious cost in some circumstances depending on the format of the training).

I agree with that, I have found that it takes you to go for other jobs before current places start thinking about how they can keep you and often its too late for them anyway.

Well, closing date is approaching and we have had over 30 applicants! The quality of those applying on the whole is fantastic. I've had some pleasant meetings with prospectives and chats over the phone with people who I think will help me support ICT in the school.
