How do you overcome the problem of kids TAKING keys or the entire keyboard keys off laptops?

Classroom policing, booking in / out of laptops to individual users from teachers.

 

Charging repairs to departments responsible.

 

Buying laptops that don't cost a fortune for new keyboards for when it does happen.

Wish that could happen here... too many teachers not being arsed?

- It was something my team fought hard to introduce and once it was done it worked out quite well. (We had laptop trolleys in our three specialist departments and since the specialist budgets paid for them they looked after them!)

We had a big increase in this a while back, but since then we have had a policy backed by SMT that if a child was found to have caused the damage that they would get charged for it.

 

We have also got the teachers to monitor who used the laptops in their lessons and get the kids to report damage at the beginning of lessons and to show them the laptops when they had finished with them.

 

This has proved very effective and we are starting to repair the laptops when we have the parts.
