To me looks like a project management post for someone to lead the bsf project... Standard practice the project is decided and project including all work etc laid out then if they win project they hire someone to run the project. Anyway maybe I should apply Russ

This is mainly down to the following they want someone to lead it at local level. But when you appoint someone like this at very high level you can not appoint and then get rid of role if you don't get contract. They wouldn't get the person they need for role on a temporary contract (when last time you saw a senior position like that on a temporary contract). So once got the contract they appoint the overall person in charge of it standard practice around the world. Russ

bossman Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 yes Russ i agree but the wage is pretty damn crap for the whole of Leeds as compared to what a Headteacher would get in just one of the Leeds schools £70k as opposed to approx £100k and how much of a profit would RM glean from this.

The contracts came in and large IT companies presented their products in a presentation identifying how it would fit the brief of the departments business model. This contract was worth hundreds of thousands and the winning bidder set about installing their system. It became clear that there EDRM system was a new piece of software and could not perform the most basic functions required of an EDRM system. To this day, three years on has still not been completed to a satisfactory state that makes use transparent and trouble free. So it is not unusual for an IT company to win a contract, taking on a task it cannot fulfil.

Yeah - I used to work for the Training & Enterprise Councils - they had a Govt appointed IT project that cost in excess of 87 million - but delivered nothing usable (except bigger cars for the consultants). Then we had to do it ourselves properly (then they made us all redundant, took it back inhouse and ballsed it up again) - talk about deja vu.... Go BSF!

Research Machines and Capita have formed a partnership to manage BSF in Leeds, those are two of the UK's biggest IT firms, so really, it can't possibly go anything but swimmingly. Lets all relax and enjoy watching the real pros at work.

So might say that you have vendetta against rm don't mind good debate next time we are in same city. alonebfg Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 all i can say about fat cat companys is they get fatter under cut everyone one the contract fill all the right pockets(the share holders and people in high places) then when they have got it you tend to get lack of support substandard equipment. and things in the contract that noone relised were there.One of the best ones i heard was not in a school but a ft cat company got the contract got paid the money but 2 years down the road they found out they had used all there free call outs and the price they had to pay for more call outs was silly but they had to use that company or they would have been in breach of contract.
