Andrew_C Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Now, I hate football, but even I would concede a 1-1 score line against America counts as a win for them. They don't even know what the game is called!
localzuk Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 They're kinda clutching at straws there. They know full well that the only reason they didn't lose was due to a fumble. (Drat! I hate football, and patriotism and now look at me!!!)
AngryTechnician Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Given that Bunker Hill was a notable battle in the revolutionary war which ended in a pyrrhic victory for England, I think that headline might be bordering on the satirical somewhat...
Andrew_C Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 It is a win for them, AS WE OUGHT TO HAVE STUFFED THEM! Gawd, here's me, a signed up, card carrying football phobic, explaining it to others... We're going to win?
torledo Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 It is a win for them, AS WE OUGHT TO HAVE STUFFED THEM! i'm sorry, but that just shows how little you do know about intl. football..... maybe you can write football headlines for the new york post. LOL. Plus, on this forum more than any other i visit does it seem necessary to preface a comment with 'i hate football...' when it comes to world cup discussion.
localzuk Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Plus, on this forum more than any other i visit does it seem necessary to preface a comment with 'i hate football...' when it comes to world cup discussion. Because many of us DO hate football??
Hightower Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I hate the royals but I don't start every argument point with "I hate the royals...." 1
localzuk Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I hate the royals but I don't start every argument point with "I hate the royals...." If your comment is about the Royals, then you could well do. Context is important, especially in written media...
