Just had an email about this company / person / idea.

printersunlimited.co.uk, offering free printers provided you buy their toners.

Anyone ever heard of it? Or belive it?

on a similar scheme here, lnl printers for schools, currently have 2 5650's and have no problems at all, toner is a little bit pricey but covers 3 year warrenty, after which you can choose to renew your contract (select new printers) also includes cost of imaging units (dispatched on proof of life being below 10%) and technical support always at the end of the phone... cant complain, only thing you have to be careful of is that the prices they quote are NOT fixed, we had some 5230dl's and ended up buying out of the contract and starting fresh as the price of the toner went up so much! Not always the companies fault however... Hope this helps.

A better option for those wanting to better predict printing costs is to go down the route of 'cost per page' printer installs, similar to how copier contracts work but with printers instead. Plenty of companies now do these.

On the HP2600 The initial outlay for the toners is £176.00 the printer is only about this much to buy...and the toners come in the machine anyway!!! they are just trying to tie you into buying from them!!

These are certainly becoming more and more common now.

Xerox, Oki, Ricoh all offer cost per page options (with the Ricoh it is nil commitment too).

HP offer a few solutions along these lines, but since they are coverage dependant they are not true 'cost-per-page' contracts and need to be carefully quoted to make sure that the customer doesn't get any suprises when it comes to the end of the year.
