ActiveSync Problems - iPhone

I am trying and failing to get Activesync working internally.

 

We are using Exchange 2010. I am trying to connect an iPhone to my mail account. The iPhone is connected on Wifi, directly to the school network.

 

As far as I can tell ActiveSync is enabled in the Exchange Management Console. It is configured to use SSL and the certificate is installed.

 

When I bring up the ActiveSync properties the 'Internal URL' is listed as:

 

https://mail.mascalls.kent.sch.uk/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync

 

Visiting this link prompts for authentication, then gives the error message:

The page cannot be displayed because the HTTP version is not supported.

 

Is this normal behaviour?

 

On the iPhone the account details are accepted but when you then go into the mail application it just says: The connection to the server failed.

 

Finally, what should be put in the 'Server' field on the iPhone? Should it be:

 

mail.mascalls.kent.sch.uk/

or

mail.mascalls.kent.sch.uk/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync

or something different?

 

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

If it is anything like a Windows mobile device you just need the actual server address mail.mascalls.kent.sch.uk and trying to access it in a browser would probably fail as it uses XML behing the scenes so may get irritable about a HTTP request.

AFAIK, the server should be mail.mascalls.kent.sch.uk. FQDN if it asks for it.

 

Are you using a proxy server? We use ISA 2006 here and had to add the internal path (/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync) to the firewall rule.

as above, add the internal path to isa and also.. have you set the proxy address on your wifi connection on your iphone, so it can go out to come back in.. so to speak.
