I've got a primary which only has 3 Windows PC's left on SIMS. I get the feeling the old PC's will be getting put out into classrooms soon though. :( All the macs do dual boot though.

Would you have an idea of how often the machines boot in to Windows Vs Mac?

You can check this in the bootpicker system preference. It gives you statistics on the choice of each OS.

This is a great thread guys, good to hear about your experiences. Personally, my feeling is that whether you approve of Apple OS X or not, it's here to stay. Same with Windows. They are both good, solid operating systems and neither is likely to kill the other off any time soon. For most domestic users there's no real difference - the stuff you do on a computer at home works fine on either platform. Yes, one is better than the other in certain specific roles - that's why different industry sectors prefer one or other platform. For that reason we owe it to our young people to make sure they know how to operate both. I would worry if an all Mac school was never booting up into Windows, in the same way as I worry when I see a school with an "anti-Mac" policy. And I totally agree that there's no point in buying a load of Macs and then not offering teaching or IT Support staff any training in how to use and administrate them. That's just doomed to fail. Good training is available though, if you have the time and the budget. :)

I work in an independent school that is all Mac...

(well, all... except for the one Windows server that some Admin staff have to remote onto from their Macs to use the MIS or Finance s/w)
