iPad vs HP Slate

Considering the HP slate has been thrown under a bus for the moment, the iPad

HP Slate is being redesigned with WebOS apparently, an OS that has never been seen running a tablet, so we have no idea how it is

Thanks for that. I was under the impression the HP Slate ran Windows 7 or at least it did.

it did originally (and may eventually)

 

there is an asus one in the pipeline that runs win7 so hopefully that will be sensible cash i like the idea of a tablet that can be a full pc if needed

There's a Dell 5" device coming out in a month or so, the 'Streak'. Runs Android. FYI. http://www.o2.co.uk/dellstreak (Note the version of Android is 1.6 when it's released and updated to 2.2 later in the year with an update). Edited May 27, 2010 by localzuk

I think the Streak will be a tad more expensive. I'm thinking probably £300 or more, plus data plan.

i guessed that it would be more but even so i think the joggler was a bit boring tbh i have only plugged it in twice an am bored of it!

Isn't the joy with replacing the OS on it though? Getting Ubuntu running on it, for example?

You'd have to be mad! For the base 3G model, plus accessories such as dock, warranty, camera adapter and vga cable, you're talking £750 inc VAT!! My last PC didn't cost me that much!!

Only downside i can see for the dell slate is until they upgrade from android 1.6 no flash player afaik
