New install of sims onto windows 7 ARRRHHHHHHHH

Hi All

This problem I hope someone has a fix for before a take a hammer to a nice new latop.

Have new windows 7 laptop and I'm trying to install sims onto it but keep getting a error saying that the short date setting are wrong should be (dd/MM/yyy) and its sayings it set to (M/d/yyy) it not unless it hidden some where any one help?

Try control panel > regional and language settings and make sure everything is set to UK. This should set the short date setting for the laptop.

I have a vague memory of this happening years ago, on XP.

 

Is there 2 ways of changing short date? Sorry, memory a bit senior.

I checked all the settings in regional and language section and it all says what it should be (dd/MM/yyy) but keeps telling me is not ARHHHHHHHHHHHH.

I am reliably informed by our SIMS team at DMBC that at present SIMS will not work with Windows 7. If you check the date setting, you will find it is correct. Capita are working on a fix.

we're running sims and FMS on win 7 wihtout any known issues other than FMS needing a default printer.

Operating System (32 bit only) —Microsoft® Windows XP Pro (SP2 and above) and Microsoft Windows Vista Business

(SP2). From Spring 2010 we will be supporting Windows 7.

If you are on 7.128 it should work & be supported.

Cool. My guys promissed to inform when the problem was fixed, obviously they forgot. I'm just going to have a friendly chat with them now :-)

Just found an old edugeek post.

 

Try setting short date/date time to something else, save then set back to setting required.

We have this issue, 'tis most bizarre. Change the time zone to something else, then change it back to London; it will then allow you to install.

I have Sims running fine on Windows 7 x64 can't say about fms as i don't use it

I get this and this is my workaround

 

Open the Region and Language Control Panel

Confirm all tabs are set for the UK..

On the "Formats" Tab click "Additional Settings..."

On the "Numbers" tab in the new Dialog, click "Reset"

Click Yes to confirm, then OK twice

Now try SIMS Install again..
